Home / Veneers, Crowns, Bridges
Our experienced dentists in Bath are always happy to find solutions to improve your smile, and therefore give your self-confidence a boost. Dental veneers – thin custom-made porcelain or composite resin shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth – are the ideal answer for many people plagued with damaged, misshapen or discoloured teeth.
The best thing about veneers is that once applied they look and feel like natural teeth, and involve far less destruction of your original teeth than other cosmetic solutions.
Veneers can address a variety of cosmetic dental concerns, including:
The application of dental veneers usually involves a few appointments with your dentist, who will start with a consultation to assess whether veneers are a suitable option for you, and if so go on to prepare and explain a treatment plan.
One of the most common and simple solutions for patients who have badly damaged or decayed teeth is to fit a bespoke dental crown. This involves using a special adhesive to fit a ceramic custom made tooth-shaped cap over a degraded tooth above the gum line to cover and protect it.
At Queen Square our dentists use crowns for various purposes like:
Crowns are fitted securely and comfortably as a routine procedure, usually under local anaesthesia, and can be completed in two appointments (unless other treatment is necessary concurrently). With proper care a dental crown can last for 15 years or more before it needs replacing.
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic set of teeth used to fill a gap left by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is permanently attached to the teeth on either side of the gap, resulting in a seamless, natural look and feel.
There are different types of and methods of applying dental bridges, but the most common is to bond a crown to your natural teeth either side of the gap, which will then hold the false tooth (or teeth) to fill the space in the middle.
This permanent solution for missing teeth is a popular alternative to dental implants because a bridge replaces missing teeth without surgery. The bridge is made of porcelain and can be custom-coloured to perfectly match the natural teeth that surround it.
A bridge is suitable for replacing one or two missing teeth – even up to four depending on the condition of the supporting teeth.
Fitting a bridge is not very complicated, but necessitates a few appointments with your dentist. The anchor teeth will be reshaped, prepared and fitted with a crown in preparation, and at the final fitting the bridge will be securely cemented into place.
