Home / General Dental Treatment
A six-monthly dental check-up (also termed a consultation or examination) sets the baseline for your oral health and allows us to determine what – if any – treatment you need going forward to keep your mouth and teeth in tip-top condition, and/or restore any damage or flaws.
This non-invasive assessment is crucial, because not only does your dentist examine your teeth, perform a gum health check and take X-rays, but you have the chance to talk to your dentist about your concerns and ask questions. We listen attentively, discuss your options and suggest a personal treatment plan that might include various procedures to conserve your teeth, address problems and preserve your oral health.
While this routine consultation itself doesn’t treat any dental problems, it is vital to allow your dentist to be able to spot any signs of oral disease, tooth decay and even cancer, so any irregularities can be talked through and a course of treatment decided on before they progress, and any restorative work required can be explained, plotted and planned.
As we all know, prevention is better than cure – especially when it comes to caring for your teeth. Dental hygienists are experts at preventing dental problems, saving teeth and thereby improving your overall health.
Regular visits to a dental hygienist can prevent gum disease, tooth decay and other oral health issues. They play an important role in educating patients about proper oral hygiene techniques (like brushing and flossing).
Regular visits (at the very least twice a year) to a hygienist are recommended for a thorough clean to remove plaque and tartar – well worth it for a brighter smile and the prevention of having to face up to expensive restorative dental procedures in the future.
Here at Queen Square we also offer preventative dental care in the form of periodontal care (gum health) scaling and root planning; fluoride treatments to strengthen tooth enamel; the application of dental sealants to protect tooth surfaces; oral cancer screening; and digital dental X-rays with sharp, clear images.
Restorative dentistry draws on the skills of the dentist (and sometimes those with specialist training) to restore diseased, decayed, damaged or broken teeth to a functional and aesthetically pleasing condition.
At Queen Square we use the most advanced equipment, materials and techniques to carry out a range of restorative dental procedures, including:
If you are suffering toothache or have difficulty chewing or biting, we will always do our best to restore your troublesome teeth to full function.
